KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of National Unity (KPN), through the National Archives of Malaysia, will organise the "Remembering Statesman Tun Abdul Razak: 'Architect of National Development and Nation-Building'" Programme on September 8 at the Tun Abdul Razak Memorial, Jalan Perdana, here.
In a statement, KPN announced that the programme is an annual ongoing effort by the ministry to elevate and appreciate the legacy and contributions of statesmen to the country, as well as serving as one of the components of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day Celebrations.
"This initiative reflects the ministry's commitment to highlighting the role, contributions, and services of Tun Abdul Razak as a statesman who laid the solid foundations for national development, public unity, and nation-building," the statement read, adding that the programme will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, Minister of National Unity Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said that the younger generation needs to learn history and understand this legacy in order to progress as a nation-state.
"History is not merely to be remembered, but to be appreciated and used as a guide. The legacy of past statesmen is not just a remnant of the past, but a living legacy that continues to thrive through the values, thoughts, and struggles inherited by us," he said.
KPN announced that various activities will be held, including a storytelling session by Tun Abdul Razak's son, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nizam Tun Abdul Razak, as well as a Statesman Discourse Session featuring former Deputy Prime Minister Tun Musa Hitam, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, and Tan Sri Mohamed Nazir Tun Abdul Razak.
KPN invites the public to attend and enliven the programme, which is hoped to serve as a space for people from various backgrounds to learn history, appreciate the struggle, and trace Tun Abdul Razak's legacy in national development and nation-building.
