PASIR PUTEH, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry (KDN) is keeping close watch on a range of threats, including the infiltration of foreign elements, smuggling and human trafficking, as it works to safeguard the country’s borders.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said border security remained a key priority, with the ministry adopting a comprehensive approach rather than focusing on any single form of threat.
“Our priority is to ensure that our borders remain secure against all forms of threats, whether they involve the infiltration of foreign elements, smuggling, human trafficking or anything else,” he told a press conference after the handover ceremony for the completed Marine Police Force Region Three headquarters project in Tok Bali here today.
He was commenting on reports widely carried by media in a neighbouring country concerning alleged elements related to Israeli settlement activities.
Saifuddin Nasution said the ministry assessed border security threats comprehensively and did not view them in isolation based solely on one or two incidents.
“We do not look at matters piecemeal or separately simply because of one or two incidents. That is our approach,” he said.
He said such an approach was crucial to ensuring the country's borders remained secure against the full range of threats.
