DA NANG, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) continues to strengthen its position as an international research, innovation, and knowledge-sharing hub through its capacity to assemble academic, research, scientific, engineering, and industry players from home and abroad.
Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said this strength is reflected not only in publications, patents, and research findings but also in platforms that connect multidisciplinary expertise to expand knowledge sharing, build networks, and scale ideas and technology internationally.
"Two key platforms reflecting this capability are the Global Trends in Engineering, Science and Technology Congress (GTEST) and the Perlis International Engineering Invention and Innovation Exhibition (Pi-ENVEX)," His Royal Highness said.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who is also UniMAP Chancellor, said this at the launch of the Perlis Cuisine Promotion at Abdul Karim Halal Restaurant in conjunction with the UniMAP International Leadership Mobility (ILM) programme here today.
Also present were Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is UniMAP Pro-Chancellor I, and their daughters, Hajah Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah Jamalullail, who is UniMAP Pro-Chancellor II, and Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail.
At the event, His Royal Highness presented souvenirs to the restaurant owner, Fatihah Muhammad Ibrohim, and the assistant manager, Faridah Khe Nu Hong Xiem.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra added that GTEST is one of UniMAP's high-impact academic platforms that bring several international conferences together in a single congress, creating a cross-disciplinary knowledge ecosystem.
"For instance, GTEST 2024 brought together seven international conferences and 12 keynote speakers over three days, covering communication and emerging technologies, civil and environmental engineering, electrical and robotics, electronic design, mechanical systems, and sustainable energy.
"This model demonstrates UniMAP's capacity to connect various branches of engineering, science, and technology within a single research ecosystem to address increasingly complex challenges," His Royal Highness said.
His Royal Highness added that this approach continues with GTEST 2026, a platform for knowledge exchange and research networking, while Pi-ENVEX complements the value chain by showcasing innovative outputs to the international community and industry.
According to His Royal Highness, Pi-ENVEX 2026 recorded 221 innovation entries, including 33 international submissions from 11 countries, demonstrating UniMAP's capacity to bring research and innovation outcomes to the global stage.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said the synergy between the two platforms creates a comprehensive value chain extending from research, knowledge sharing, and networking to innovation, industry engagement, and societal impact.
His Royal Highness said this capability also reflects UniMAP's evolving role from a mere consumer to a creator, connector, and disseminator of knowledge, in line with the aspirations of a research-oriented, innovation-driven, and technology-focused technical university.
"Through this ecosystem, UniMAP is able to broaden the visibility of its research outcomes, open new avenues for collaboration with institutions and industry, and fortify its international networks.
"Ultimately, this approach positions research and innovation not merely as academic output, but as a catalyst for technological development that delivers genuine value and real-world solutions to society and industry," His Royal Highness added.
