KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- National women’s singles shuttler K. Letshanaa earned a testing second-round assignment against China’s second seed Wang Zhi Yi after cruising through her opening match at the China Masters 2026 here, today.
Letshanaa required just 16 minutes to dispose of England’s Karen Yun Qiao Feng 21-6, 21-3 at the Shenzhen Arena, thus setting up a daunting clash with the home favourite in the BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament.
In the men’s doubles, Malaysia are assured of a quarter-final representative after Chia Weijie-Teo Ee Yi and Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong set up an all-Malaysian second-round meeting.
Weijie-Ee Yi rallied from a set down to edge Japan’s Kakeru Kumagai-Hiroki Nishi 16-21, 21-19, 22-20 in a hard-fought encounter.
Nur Mohd Azriyn-Wee Kiong also had to battle through three sets before overcoming national’s newly formed pair Aaron Chia-Man Wei Chong 14-21, 21-15, 21-19.
However, Wan Muhammad Arif Shahruddin Wan Junaidi Arif-Kang Khai Xing’s campaign ended in the first round after they went down 11-21, 16-21 to Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty.
