KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- The 2026 Pandu Citra Week organised by the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) serves as an important platform for strengthening leadership within the public service, said Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
He said a good leader was not just responsible for managing an organisation, but must also be capable of guiding officers, recognising their potential and nurturing their development.
“With 99 Pemandu Citra Profesional Sektor Awam (public sector professional coaches) now serving as driving forces in their respective organisations, I want this coaching approach to continue to be extended to the field and adopted at every level of the department.
“Be a Pandu Citra ambassador who helps cultivate a culture of guiding, listening to and developing others in the organisation. The true measure of leadership ultimately lies not only in our own achievements, but in our ability to build more leaders after us,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Shamsul Azri also congratulated all award recipients recognised under the programme, including the Ministry of Health, which received the 2026 Inspirasi Pandu Citra Sektor Awam Award in the Organisation of the Year category.
In addition, Putrajaya Hospital Deputy Director of Medical Dr Mohammad Khairol Anwar Yusop was selected as the 2026 Pandu Citra Sektor Awam ambassador.
The Pandu Citra Ambassador Award was presented to Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council Director of Administration Muhammad Aszam Gambaris @ Watimin and Occupational Health Specialist at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital, Kangar, Perlis, Dr Muhammad Shauqi Abdul Kadir.
The 2026 Pandu Citra Week was organised to increase awareness, understanding and acceptance among public officials of the Pandu Citra approach as a method of human capital development that can strengthen leadership, improve performance and unlock individual potential towards excellence.
The programme also serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices to promote wider adoption of the Pandu Citra approach in the public service.
