Nominations Open For 2028 King Faisal Prize

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Nominations for the prestigious 2028 King Faisal Prize are now open, with individuals and institutions to be honoured for outstanding contributions to Islam, scholarship, medicine and science across five categories.

In a statement, the King Faisal Prize General Secretariat said nominations opened on Tuesday and will run until March 31, 2027, covering five categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine and Science.

“The latest nomination cycle marks another milestone in the prize’s 50-year history of recognising and honouring prominent individuals and institutions whose contributions have enriched humanity,” King Faisal Prize Secretary General Dr Abdulaziz Alsebail said.

For 2028, he said the Islamic Studies category will focus on “The Islamic Heritage in al-Andalus”, while Arabic Language and Literature will centre on “Arabic Literature from the Perspective of Comparative Studies”.

The Medicine category will focus on “RNA-Based Therapeutics”, while Biology has been selected as the field for the Science category.

Meanwhile, the Service to Islam prize is an honorary award recognising individuals or institutions for outstanding contributions to Islam, Muslims and humanity.

Nominations are accepted from academic and scientific institutions as well as research centres, and may be submitted by post, via email at Nominations@kingfaisalprize.org or through the prize’s nomination portal at www.kingfaisalprize.org/nominations.
