PETALING JAYA, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Perlis kegler Zureen Alyssa Qaisara Azlisham finally won her first every Malaysia Games (SUKMA) medal in style when she emerged triumphant in the women’s masters event at Sunway Mega Lanes, Sunway Pyramid here today.

The 16-year-old beat Lavinia Kho Jia Jie of 2-1 with a score of 160-223, 246-215 dan 211-194 in the final, after failing to win any medal in the women’s individual, doubles and team events.

“I’m very happy as it’s a gold and my first medal at SUKMA. I tried in the individual, doubles and team event but failed to win any medal, but today I rose from the bottom right to the top.

“Before SUKMA, I hurt my right hand due to overuse and it still hurts when I play. I can only try to forget the pain, focus on one match at a time and do my best,” she told reporters here today, as she dedicated her medal to her coaches.

Meanwhile, Sarawak kegler Ethan Damien Goh Chean Ming won his second gold of this Games after helping Sarawak win the men’s team event yesterday by beating his teammate Muhammad Isyraq Iqbal Ramadhan 2-0 (247-209, 245-210) in the men’s masters event today.

Ethan admitted feeling the pressure even though he was competing against his teammate as both of them wanted to win.

“This is the first time playing the Masters and my first gold in this category. I only wanted to do my best and if I had lost, I would have put up a challenge,” he added.

Selangor led the standings in tenpin bowling after competition ended today, with four gold, one silver and two bronze, followed by Sarawak (3-2-1) and Perlis third (2-0-1).
