SHAH ALAM, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin today attended the ‘10,000 Wanita Selangor Berselawat’ gathering at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here.
Her Royal Highness arrived at 9.15 pm and was received by President of the Welfare and Charity Organisation of the Wives of Selangor State Assemblymen (PEKAWANIS) Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad, State Women Empowerment and Social Welfare Committee chairman Anfaal Saari, and Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS) chief executive officer Siti Faridah Abdul Samad.
She then joined the female congregation in reciting selawat led by International Quran Recital Champion Ustazah Nor Farhatul Fairuzah Panut, followed by a religious lecture (tazkirah) titled ‘Emulating the Character of the Prophet Muhammad SAW: An Inspiration for Believing Women’ by Ustazah Nazirah Abu Bakar.
Organised by WBS, the event, which began at 6 pm, not only fostered love for Prophet Muhammad SAW but also provided an opportunity for Her Royal Highness to engage with the people in strengthening communal bonds (ukhuwah) and spiritual values in Selangor.
Earlier, Siti Faridah said the presence of 10,000 female congregants demonstrated the strength women could achieve when united on a foundation of goodness and solidarity.
She said the event served as a platform for the congregation to jointly recite selawat, pray and contribute to the development of Selangor, while praying for the state’s harmony and for future generations to be knowledgeable and possess good morals.
Participants were also urged to become a community that draws closer to Allah, loves the Prophet SAW, perseveres in facing challenges and brings benefit to society.
