IPOH, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF) North Brigade is extending its full cooperation into the extortion investigation involving an e-waste factory in Tasik Gelugor, Penang, which led to the arrest of 10 of its personnel.

PGA Ulu Kinta North Brigade Acting Commander ACP Jafri Muhamad said that an official statement has been issued by the top management of the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA).

"However, this matter is still under investigation by the Penang police who are investigating the case. We are providing full cooperation in terms of the criminal investigation, and internal investigations have also been initiated as required by the leadership," he said at a press conference.

The press conference was held in conjunction with the successful arrests and seizures related to Op Gali Mega at the North Brigade Headquarters here today.

Jafri added that his team will never compromise on any misconduct involving officers and personnel under his command.

Jafri said the criminal investigation is being conducted by the Penang Police, while the internal investigation regarding disciplinary aspects is being handled by the North Brigade.

Earlier, 10 personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) General Operations Force (PGA) were arrested last Wednesday to assist in the investigation into the extortion of an electronic waste processing factory in Tasik Gelugor.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order (Operations/Operations) Deputy Director Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim said all the personnel involved are stationed at PGA Battalion 2 in Kulim, Kedah.

Those arrested are aged between 30 and 40 and comprise various ranks, with the case being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code.
