BERLIN, Aug 21 (Bernama-dpa) -- The trial over the death of Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona has been suspended after kidney test results were allegedly mixed up, according to media reports cited by the German Press Agency (dpa).
The reports said that test results that actually belonged to his father were mistakenly attributed to Maradona, who died of a heart attack on Nov 25, 2020. Maradona's father, also named Diego, died in 2015.
The trial was suspended for one week, while the court reportedly ordered the seizure of the actual medical records.
Maradona underwent brain surgery a few weeks before his death. Prosecutors accuse Maradona's personal doctor Leopoldo Luque, his psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and a psychologist, another doctor, the medical coordinator of the health insurer and two carers of manslaughter. All defendants rejected the allegations.
Investigators believe that serious mistakes were made in the at-home care of the 1986 World Cup winner.
The case had to be restarted after a first trial was declared null and void in May last year after 21 days. The proceedings were halted after one judge on the three-member panel was suspended over her involvement in an unauthorised documentary film about the trial.
