BATU PAHAT, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The upgrading of 123 health clinics across Johor involving an allocation of RM62.296 million has addressed issues related to dilapidated facilities, helping to improve healthcare service delivery in the state.

Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the upgrading of health clinics and rural clinics across the state was carried out through collaboration between the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Johor State Health Department (JKNJ).

He said the upgrading works had been ongoing since 2023 and were expected to be fully completed this year, with allocations ranging from RM100,000 to RM1 million for each clinic, depending on its needs.

“ Some clinics, especially rural clinics, have wooden structures that have been replaced with concrete buildings that are more durable and comfortable,” he said after the Johor Maju Ambulance handover ceremony at the Semerah Health Clinic here today.

Ling said the state government would now focus on upgrading health facilities, equipment and infrastructure, with more than RM60 million allocated as at August under a special allocation from Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said the allocation included the purchase of six Johor Maju ambulances, one of which was handed over to the Semerah Health Clinic, to meet the urgent needs of health clinics and hospitals.

He said another five ambulances would be handed over to health clinics in Tangkak, Kota Tinggi and Mersing, while two others would be placed at Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bahru, through collaboration with the Johor Islamic Corporation (PIJ).
