IPOH, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Nuclear Agency (Nuklear Malaysia) continues to strengthen scientific writing and publishing skills among professionals and technical staff to ensure that research outcomes can be disseminated more widely and benefit society and the nation.

Its director-general, Dr. Muhammad Rawi Mohamed Zin, said that scientific publications are among the important indicators in assessing the extent to which research outcomes can contribute to the advancement of knowledge, solve problems, and add value to the country's development.

He said that quality publications are also important to ensure that research results do not stop at the laboratory or institutional level, but can instead be shared, understood and utilised by various parties.

"High-impact publications are a reflection of research outcomes and their impact in solving problems, benefiting society, and contributing to national development," he said.

He said this while officiating the 2026 Scientific Writing and Publishing Seminar and Workshop themed "High-Impact Publishing as the Core of Knowledge Development" here today

Muhammad Rawi said the seminar and workshop also provided exposure to the latest developments in scholarly publishing, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis and open access publishing.

"The aforementioned development opens up opportunities to accelerate the writing process and expand the dissemination of knowledge, but at the same time requires a solid understanding of academic integrity, data accuracy, plagiarism, AI usage ethics and copyright.

"This programme also emphasises the importance of collaboration involving academic institutions, government agencies, publishers, and industry players in integrating expertise in science, technology, language and publishing," he said.

He said that the collaboration between Nuclear Malaysia and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) is manifested through the “Nuklear Untuk Rakyat” segment in "Majalah Dewan Kosmik",  as well as the publication of books and encyclopedias and efforts to enrich scientific terminology in the Malay language.

"The effort to strengthen the practice of scientific writing and publishing is a continuous commitment of Nuklear Malaysia in supporting the aspiration of 'Nuclear for the People' (N.U.R.) under the National Nuclear Technology Policy 2030," he said.

He said that Nuklear Malaysia produces more than 500 scientific publications each year, including international journals, conference proceedings, scientific books, technical reports, and popular articles in Malay and English.

The seminar and workshop also received support from DBP, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Institut Terjemahan & Buku Malaysia (ITBM), PTS Media Group, Persatuan Penerbit Buku Malaysia (MABOPA) and MajalahSains.com.

The programme also provides workshop sessions to enhance participants' ability to produce high-quality, integrity-driven scientific works that meet current publication requirements.
