KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Julai -- (GAMBAR FAIL) Malaysia akan menjadi tuan rumah Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix di Litar Antarabangsa Sepang (SIC) dari 2 hingga 4 Okt, sekali gus mencatat sejarah sebagai perlumbaan Formula Satu (F1) pertama yang dipindahkan ke negara lain selepas dibatalkan. F1 dalam satu kenyataan memaklumkan perlumbaan itu, yang tertakluk kepada persetujuan akhir serta kelulusan rasmi termasuk daripada Majlis Sukan Permotoran Dunia, akan dikenali sebagai Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, Malaysia. In a statement, Formula One said the event, subject to final agreement and official approvals, including from the FIA World Motor Sport Council, will officially be known as the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, Malaysia. MANAMA, Aug 18 (Bernama-BNA) -- Deputy King of Bahrain His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa said Malaysia’s hosting of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, with the blessings of King of Bahrain His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, reflects the close and longstanding ties between the two countries.

The Deputy King expressed his gratitude to Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, for giving his blessing for the race to be held in Malaysia, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Prince Salman bin Hamad also thanked Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his support and cooperation in organising the race.

He made the remarks while receiving Malaysian Ambassador to Bahrain Datuk Shazryll Zahiran at Gudaibiya Palace on Monday. 

Several senior officials also attended the meeting. 

Prince Salman bin Hamad also thanked Formula 1, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Bahrain International Circuit, Sepang International Circuit, and the participating teams for their support in ensuring the successful transition of the race.

He highlighted the importance of continuing to build on cooperation to further expand opportunities that advance mutual interests. 

During the meeting, the latest regional and international developments and issues of common interest were also discussed.

Meanwhile, Shazryll expressed his appreciation for His Royal Highness’ unwavering commitment to strengthening bilateral relations to benefit both countries and their peoples and further wished the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
