SHAH ALAM, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- A hill forest area of about 2.8 hectares near the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque in Section 14 here went up in flames this afternoon.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar said they received an emergency call at 1.01 pm and dispatched a team to the scene.
"Fire tenders from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arriving at the location found about seven acres (2.8 hectares) of hilly forest on fire.
"The fire did not involve any nearby building structures, and no casualties or injuries were reported," he said in a statement today.
He said 10 officers and personnel were involved, using fire beaters and water pumps to fight the fire.
As of 8.30 pm, the fire was 60 per cent contained, and operations were still ongoing.
"Firefighters are extinguishing remaining hot spots using water sourced from the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) fire hydrant, supported by a water tanker, alongside creating fire breaks to prevent the fire from spreading," he said.
