KOTA BHARU, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- Police arrested a male Thai national and seized 6,000 yaba pills worth about RM60,000 in an operation in Pasir Mas yesterday.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the man, 45, was arrested at 7.30 pm along Jalan Kampung Rahmat, Jalan Lubok Stol-Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas.
“A body check revealed a paper package containing 6,000 pills suspected to be yaba weighing about 655 grams with a market value of around RM60,000,” he said in a statement today, adding that a jetty along Sungai Golok was believed to be used to smuggle drugs in from a neighbouring country to the state before being sold domestically.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days from Aug 16 to 22 to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The suspect also tested positive for amphetamine and did not possess any prior criminal records, he said.
