PUTRAJAYA, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- DAP today decided to remain in the federal government until the end of the 15th Parliament’s term.

The decision was reached through a special motion tabled by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke at the 2026 DAP Party Conference at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here.

The official voting result was announced by Conference Speaker Cha Kee Chin, showing that an overwhelming majority of delegates gave the party leadership the mandate to continue its cooperation within the government.

Based on the voting results, 1,857 delegates voted to remain, while 242 voted to leave, with seven spoilt ballots out of 2,106 ballot papers issued.

The delegates voted on the motion by secret ballot to ensure transparency and integrity in the process, rather than through the usual voice vote or show of hands.

DAP has five ministers in the Cabinet -- Loke as Transport Minister, Steven Sim (Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development), Gobind Singh Deo (Digital), Nga Kor Ming (Housing and Local Government) and Hannah Yeoh (Prime Minister’s Department, Federal Territories).

In addition, seven DAP leaders hold deputy ministerial positions, including Teo Nie Ching (Communications), Datuk Chan Foong Hin (Agriculture and Food Security), Wong Kah Woh (Education) and Liew Chin Tong (Finance).

The others are M. Kulasegaran (Prime Minister’s Department, Law and Institutional Reform), Lim Hui Ying (Women, Family and Community Development) and Mordi Bimol (Youth and Sports).
