KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- About 2,000 participants from various walks of life gathered in the federal capital this morning for the Integrity Fun Walk (IFW) 2026, aimed at fostering a culture of integrity, promoting healthy lifestyles, and strengthening family and community ties.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the programme sought to raise public awareness of the meaning and importance of integrity while encouraging its practice in daily life.
“Integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching,” said Shamsul Azri, who is also the Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM) chairman, after officiating the IFW 2026 here today.
Themed “Stepping Together, Driving Integrity”, the event brought together staff from ministries, government agencies, the private sector, statutory bodies, higher education institutions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Organised by IIM in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa, the programme featured three-kilometre and five-kilometre routes, an Integrity Message Competition, lucky draw and various interactive activities.
Participant Suzana Ahmad, 58, said the programme provided an opportunity to embrace the value of integrity through a relaxed community activity and bring the message back to the workplace for practical application.
“Efforts to cultivate integrity within large organisations require the involvement of more people as agents to help put these values into practice,” said the staff of Menara Merdeka Maybank 118.
Another participant, civil servant Mohd Ridhaudeen Rahmat, 48, described IFW 2026 as an enjoyable experience that allowed him to spend quality time with his family while supporting the national integrity agenda.
“I hope programmes like this can be organised more frequently and promoted more widely among Malaysians,” he said.
The programme also incorporated corporate social responsibility (CSR) elements by providing free participation to associations for children with disabilities, while certificates of appreciation were presented to agencies with the highest participation.
