KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower for the second consecutive day as investors digested United States economic data.

A dealer noted that gold futures fell ahead of the weekend despite fading expectations of a Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate hike in September.

“Investors will have more employment data to assess before the Federal Open Market Committee’s next meeting, while remarks by Fed chair Kevin Warsh at the central bank’s 48th Jackson Hole symposium later this month will also be closely watched for clues on the interest rate outlook,” he said.

At the close, the spot-month August 2026 contract fell to US$4,358.7 per troy ounce from US$ 4,388.80 per troy ounce, the September 2026 contract declined to US$4,374.9 per troy ounce from US$ 4,405.00 per troy ounce previously.

The October and November 2026 contracts both fell to US$4,390.6 per troy ounce from US$4,421.20 per troy ounce previously, while the December 2026 contract declined to US$4,398.4 per troy ounce from US$4,429.90 per troy ounce.

Trading volume increased to 267 lots from 218 lots yesterday, while open interest rose to 339 contracts from 301 contracts previously.

Physical gold was fixed at US$4,437.0 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on Aug 13, 2026.
