PUTRAJAYA, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- A total of 82,092 candidates have been offered places to study for a bachelor's degree at 20 public universities (UA) this year, according to the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).

In a statement today, KPT announced that the figure represents 76.10 per cent of the 107,875 applications eligible to pursue undergraduate studies via the UPUOnline.

Overall, a total of 1,146 bachelor's degree programmes are offered for this session.

KPT said that student admissions to the institution are based on the principle of meritocracy by arranging all eligible candidates according to their merit scores from highest to lowest.

"The ministry extends its best wishes to all successful candidates and hopes that the opportunity to continue their studies at the higher education level will be utilised to the fullest," according to the statement.

For candidates who do not receive an offer for a study place, KPT will open a second chance for them through the appeal process on the UPUOnline within a period of 10 days, starting from noon today (Aug 14) until 5pm on Aug 23, 2026.
