KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck southern Sumatra, Indonesia at 11.15 pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement today announced that the earthquake was centred at coordinates six degrees South and 102.4 degrees East with a depth of 78 kilometres (km).
According to the statement, the location is located 239 km southwest of Pagar Alam, Indonesia.
However, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
