LABUAN, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- The RM9 million Communications Ministry Complex here, which houses several key federal communication agencies, was inspected by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah during his first official visit to the facility.
Abdul Halim was briefed on the condition of the complex, particularly its air-conditioning system, which requires repair or possible replacement to ensure a conducive working environment for personnel based there.
He was also briefed on the need for major repair works at the RTM staff quarters located next to the complex, as well as proposed upgrading works involving RTM Labuan's facilities.
The complex, completed in 2019, houses the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) Labuan, the Information Department (JaPen) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
During the visit, Abdul Halim was also briefed on the establishment, staffing structure and respective roles and functions of Bernama, RTM Labuan and JaPen.
The briefing provided an overview of the agencies' operations in Labuan and their respective responsibilities in disseminating official information, news and broadcasting content to the public.
Accompanying Abdul Halim were the ministry's senior division secretary (management) Datuk Aminurrahim Mohamed, Information Department deputy director-general (digital content) Wan Saidatul Shafina Mohd Amin and RTM facility development division director Roziyati Rosli.
The visit was also aimed at assessing the overall condition and facility requirements of the complex and identifying areas requiring attention to ensure the agencies could continue operating effectively.
It marked Abdul Halim's first visit to the Communications Ministry Complex in Labuan since his appointment as the ministry's secretary-general in November last year.
