KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) made history by hosting its first Royal Concert at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) last night.

UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Sufian Jusoh said proceeds from ticket sales would be channelled towards sustaining the university’s academic, research and development activities, while further strengthening its role in developing human capital.

“That is one of our objectives, but our broader aim is to ensure that cooperation between UKM and DFP continues smoothly. We believe tonight’s concert succeeded in enhancing the quality of performing arts at UKM and giving students the opportunity to perform at a world-class venue,” he told reporters after the concert.

He said the university had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish collaboration between UKM and several other public universities with DFP and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO).

“The collaboration includes industrial training for students from public universities, particularly UKM, allowing them to learn not only about the performing arts but also design, systems, AI in music and architecture,” he said.
