KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) is conducting an investigation into the use of the department's logo on a vehicle that went viral on social media and was allegedly driven by a foreign national.
Its director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said initial checks found that the vehicle was not owned or an official asset of JIM.
"JIM views the use of the Department's logo on the vehicle seriously as it could cause confusion and misconceptions among the public.
"An investigation is underway to identify the individuals involved and the purpose of using the JIM logo on the vehicle," he said in a statement today.
He said appropriate action would be taken based on the provisions of the law in force if there were any violations.
"JIM will not compromise on any misuse of the department's logo or identity that could mislead the public or affect the image and integrity of the department," he said.
He also appreciated the public's concerns regarding the matter and assured that the investigation would be carried out accordingly.
