KUANTAN, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Pahang has strengthened its position as a leading tourism destination after securing nine awards at the Tourism Industry Awards 2026 organised by the Malaysia International Tourism Development Association (MiTDA) in Selangor yesterday.
The Pahang government, through Tourism Pahang, received the top award for ‘Best Average Accommodation Occupancy Rate in Malaysia’, reflecting the strong performance of the state's tourism sector and continued visitor confidence in its diverse attractions and destinations.
In a statement today, Tourism Pahang said the Kuantan City Council secured three awards - Best Tourism Development Initiative, Best Recreational Destination, and Sustainable Tourism Programme.
“East Coast Mall Kuantan received the award for Best Shopping Mall – Kuantan, while LoVita Hotel Kuantan was named Best Budget Hotel – Kuantan,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Resorts World Genting was recognised as Best Integrated Resort Destination, while SkyAvenue won two awards for Best Highland Destination and Best Family Holiday Destination.
Tourism Pahang general manager Nor Zahira Muhammad Azmi said the achievements reflected the close cooperation between the state government, local authorities, tourism operators, and industry players in strengthening Pahang's tourism sector.
“This recognition is not merely an honour for Pahang but also serves as a catalyst to further strengthen tourism development and promotional efforts,” she said.
She said Tourism Pahang would continue working with stakeholders to enhance the state's tourism products and strengthen Pahang's competitiveness as a preferred domestic and international tourism destination.
She added that the recognition would further support Tourism Pahang's promotional efforts under the ‘Visit Malaysia 2026 – Pahang First’ campaign.
