SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Kita Programme (PMK) serves as a government platform to help the public better understand current issues while ensuring accurate information is conveyed to the people.
Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said that, apart from its primary role of bringing various government services closer to the people, the programme also serves to provide a clearer understanding of government policies and initiatives.
“For example, with regard to the full report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the management and operations of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), the commission’s members are not politicians.
“Explanations on the issue should be conveyed in simple language so that the people can understand. Let the people understand what happened at TH,” he said in his speech when officiating the PMK Together with the Kota Raja Community at the MBSA Hall, Section 28, here today.
Also present were Communications Ministry deputy secretary-general (Strategic Communications and Creative Industry) Datuk Bahria Mohd Tamil and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.
Meanwhile, Mohamad said the programme also brings together various ministries, departments and agencies from both the federal and Selangor governments under one roof to deliver services closer to the people.
“This approach enables the people, especially Selangor residents, to obtain accurate information, deal with various agencies and enjoy the services provided more easily, quickly and effectively.
“Today's programme focuses on strengthening ties and fostering unity among people of different races through various activities, including a football match, an e-sports competition and cultural performances that reflect the rich diversity of Selangor's heritage,” he said.
Bahria, in her speech, said that cybersecurity and consumer protection, particularly for children, remain among the Communications Ministry's key priorities.
“To this end, the government will not compromise on any form of abuse of digital platforms that could threaten the safety and well-being of the people.
“As of June 30, a total of 1,550 harmful online contents involving children had been taken down through firm enforcement action by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in collaboration with licensed service providers,” she said.
She said the action was carried out through enforcement cooperation involving technical assistance, information sharing and digital forensic analysis to support investigations by the authorities.
An estimated 2,000 visitors attended the PMK Together with the Kota Raja Community today, with 27 booths operated by government departments and agencies providing services to the local community.
