Journalists Among Winners Of 2026 Mazda Trophy Challenge

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- The 2026 Mazda Trophy Golf Challenge successfully brought together a record 188 amateur golfers today, including corporate representatives, media practitioners, content creators and golf influencers, in an effort to strengthen the relationship between the Mazda brand and the country's golf community.

Organised by Bermaz Motor, the tournament took place at the Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club (TPGCC), and it was graced by the presence of Bermaz Auto Berhad executive chairman Tan Sri Ben Yeoh and Low Yat Group executive director Datuk Low Gee Teong, who is also the TPGCC managing director.

The 18-hole challenge saw participants compete across three main TPGCC courses - Putera, Puteri and Tasik - with handicap limits set below 24 for the men's category and 36 for the women's category.

Besides testing participants' skills on the course, the tournament also offered four attractive prizes through hole-in-one challenges, including a new Mazda CX-30 at Hole 8 (Puteri) and Hole 17 (Putera).

The two other hole-in-one challenges offered Adidas-sponsored prizes worth RM15,000 each at Hole 14 (Putera) and Hole 24 (Tasik).

Journalists from various media organisations, including Bernama, Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, NST and Kosmo, as well as online media portals Cakap Sukan and Madani News, also took part.

Among the winners in the invitational category featuring VIPs, sponsors, guests, media practitioners and online social media portals were Imran Mohd Nor (Utusan) and Jaiarajo Letchumanan (Bernama), who finished second and third respectively.

The organisation of the 2026 Mazda Trophy Golf Challenge also received support from co-sponsors Adidas and F&N.

In the tournament, handicap (one) player Wan Zaidil Afthar Ishak emerged as the gross champion after recording a score of 67 nett. Meanwhile, the Category A title went to 8-handicap player Razid Sukiran with a score of 69 nett, followed by 9-handicap player Ahmad Suhaimi Mohd Yassin (70 nett) and 5-handicap player Lim Chee Kwang (70 nett OCB).

In Category B, 16-handicap player Fauzul Hazwan Khalid was crowned champion after recording a score of 71 nett, followed by Roslan Ismail (71 nett) and Fazlan Mohd. Desa (72 nett).

In the senior category, Kamaruzaman Abdullah emerged victorious with a score of 73 nett, while Nur Azreen Mohd Zin won the women's category with a score of 72 nett.
