Johor Allocates RM50 Million For Repaint Of Flat Housing

JOHOR BAHRU, July 20 (Bernama) -- The Johor government has allocated RM50 million for repainting low-cost flats, privately owned low-medium-cost flats and public housing flats across the state as part of efforts to improve living conditions for lower-income communities.

State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said the large-scale initiative will cover 170 housing blocks comprising 11,693 residential units at 26 strategic locations statewide.

He said the programme is expected to directly benefit nearly 46,772 residents while serving as a catalyst for improving the social environment of local communities.

"Painting work may appear to be merely cosmetic, but its impact on the community goes far beyond aesthetics.

"A clean, cheerful and well-maintained residential environment creates greater comfort, strengthens community spirit and reassures residents that their well-being remains a priority for the state government," he said in a Facebook post.

Mohd Jafni, who inspected repainting works at the Desa Muafakat Apartments with Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi today, said the projects would be coordinated and implemented by the relevant state agencies.

These include the Johor State Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ) and the Local Government Division of the Johor State Secretary's Office, with support from the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP), Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) and the Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu).

Besides inspecting the repainting project, he and the Menteri Besar also visited the construction site of the Tabika KEMAS Bangsa Johor at the Desa Muafakat Apartments.

He added that they were also briefed on issues involving slope subsidence near the apartment parking area and damage to internal roads within the housing complex.

Mohd Jafni stressed that all implementing agencies and appointed contractors had been reminded to uphold the highest standards of workmanship, safety and cleanliness throughout the project.

"We do not want projects that look good only upon completion but deteriorate quickly or create new problems for residents.

"All works must be carried out according to the stipulated schedule, specifications and quality standards," he said.
