PETALING JAYA, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- Selangor defender Jefferson Tabinas’ goal in injury time secured his team’s victory over Melaka FC in their 2026/2027 Super League match at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium here tonight.
The 3-2 win also ensures that Selangor remains third in the Super League, behind second-placed Kuching City FC, both with nine points and only goal difference separating them.
Selangor’s aggressiveness at the start of the match was rewarded when Chrigor Moraes scored their first goal in the 11th minute, and even though the home team tried to double their lead, the first half ended 1-0.
Melaka tried to mount an offensive in the start of the second half hoping to get an equaliser, but Moraes made them suffer when he scored his second goal in the 51st minute, extending the home team’s lead instead.
Somehow stung into action, Melaka then managed to score two goals, through Syahir Abdul Rashid in the 59th and Dong-Hyeon Do in the 75th to even up the match.
Luck was on Selangor’s side however, and Melaka went home without a single point when Jefferson Tabinas scored Selangor’s third goal in injury time, much to the delight of the home crowd.
