Iraq Not Planning To Leave Opec, Hopes For Fair Production Quota – Prime Minister
MOSCOW, July 9 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Iraq does not plan to leave OPEC but expects a fair production quota, Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi said on Thursday.
"Iraq will not withdraw from OPEC ... We count on a fair production quota within the organisation," Al-Zaidi told the Al-Hadath broadcaster, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
On June 5, OPEC said that Kuwait would be allowed to increase oil production in August by 16,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 2.66 million bpd, Oman by 5,000 bpd to 836,000 bpd, and Iraq's by 26,000 bpd to 4.405 million bpd.
In June, Iraqi Oil Ministry spokesman Salim Al-Ruqabi said that OPEC+ had begun assessing Iraq's oil production capacities to review its quotas.
