Six Rohingya Men Held Over RM200,000 Aluminium Formwork Robbery
MELAKA, July 8 (Bernama) -- Six Rohingya men were arrested for allegedly stealing aluminium formwork worth an estimated RM200,000 from a construction materials storage warehouse in Sungai Udang here on June 15.
Melaka Police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the suspects, aged between 18 and 38, who allegedly committed the gang robbery, were arrested during Op Kargo on June 19.
“The robbery was reported to have occurred at about 2 am on June 15. The group's modus operandi was to tie up the security guard's hands and feet before fleeing with the aluminium formwork stored in the warehouse.
“Following the incident, the Special Investigation Division (D9) of the Melaka Police Contingent Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department launched Op Kargo in the Kajang area of Selangor and successfully arrested all the suspects,” he said in a statement here today.
He said police also seized two lorries, three sacks containing aluminium blocks and two copies of sales receipts for scrap materials worth RM27,440 and RM101,816.
Dzulkhairi said all the suspects will be charged at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate's Court tomorrow under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
