Johor Polls: Nor Zulaila Warmly Received, Optimistic Of Being Accepted By Voters

PASIR GUDANG, July 5 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Tiram state seat, Nor Zulaila Abd Ghani is optimistic about being accepted by voters, thanks to the positive feedback she has received during the campaigning period so far.

She described the response she received during her ground visits as very encouraging, adding that it proved that there was strong grassroots support for PH.

"So far feedback has been very positive. There has been some disparaging remarks, but those are limited to social media like Facebook, while on the ground, we haven’t seen any provocation,” she told Bernama after a meet-and-greet programme with Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong  at Ruang Kopi Kita, Kota Masai here today.

She also shared her campaign strategy, saying that she was active in getting close to youth via sports and recreational platforms, such as participating in sepak takraw, futsal and snooker matches with the local community.

Such casual approaches are meant to create awareness among youth about the importance of their duties as voters, as some of them are sceptical about the country’s political scene, she added.

"I always tell them, like it or not, voting is their responsibility as the daily lifestyle and policies drafted by the government in the future is determined by this process,” she pointed out.

She also expressed disappointment over the vandalism of her campaign billboard recently and expressed hope that the remaining campaigning period would be devoid of such acts and that all contesting parties would conduct themselves in a mature, healthy and harmonious manner.

Johor voters will cast their ballots on July 11, with early voting scheduled for July 7.
