Fahmi Urges Johoreans Living Outside State To Return Home To Vote

MUAR, July 2 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has urged Johor voters living and working outside the state to return home to fulfil their civic responsibility in the 16th Johor State Election on July 11.

Fahmi, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) Communications director, said the state election was crucial to ensure continued national stability through alignment between the state and Federal governments.

“This state election is very important because we want a good state government that can work together with the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim).

“Over the past three years, the Prime Minister has done so much for Johor. The Federal Government has allocated more to Johor than to Selangor and other states. More importantly, Johor's success is due to a stable Federal Government,” he said when speaking at a charity dinner here tonight.

Also present were DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister Anthony Loke, PH’s Johor State Election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and several PH candidates contesting seats in the Muar area.

Meanwhile, Fahmi expressed hope that voters would give PH candidates contesting all 56 state seats the opportunity to provide the best service to the people.

“We want PH candidates to be given the chance to serve well during this term.

“Moving forward, we want stability. We want people who can work with the Prime Minister, and we want investments to continue flowing in,” he said.

Fahmi also assured that PH would conduct a clean campaign despite facing various provocations from its opponents.

“Some people resort to all kinds of tactics, deception and intimidation. But do not be afraid. We must be courageous because we want a better future together with PH,” he said.

The 16th Johor State Election will see 172 candidates contesting 56 seats, with polling set for July 11 and early voting on July 7.
