Johor Polls: Retiree Dips Into Savings, Travels from S’gor To Back Onn Hafiz
KLUANG, June 27 (Bernama) -- A senior citizen from Selangor travelled to Johor to show his support for Barisan Nasional leaders during the nomination process for the 16th Johor state election today.
Alias Samad, 68, arrived at the nomination centre at the Simpang Renggam District Council's Dewan Muafakat as early as 7 am.
The retired civil servant attracted attention by wearing a white-and-blue outfit featuring the BN logo and the Selangor flag.
“I spent about RM50 to tailor the outfit and more than RM500 from my own savings on travel, food and accommodation,” he told newsmen.
The father of 12 said he made the trip to campaign for Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
He said he was inspired to support Onn Hafiz after the latter campaigned in his area in Sungai Tawar, Sabak Bernam.
Onn Hafiz will face Pakatan Harapan candidate Nor Hafiz Roslan in a straight fight to defend the Machap seat.
