Johor Polls: Onn Hafiz Defends Machap In Straight Fight Against PH
SIMPANG RENGGAM, June 27 (Bernama) -- Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi is defending the Machap seat in a straight fight with Nor Hafiz Roslan of Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the 16th Johor state election.
Returning officer Mohd Izzul Helmi Ahmad announced this at the nomination centre at the Dewan Muafakat, Simpang Renggam District Council, after the nomination process closed at 10 am today.
Nor Hafiz submitted his nomination papers at 9.03 am, while Onn Hafiz, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, submitted his at 9.06 am.
In the previous state election, Onn Hafiz retained the seat with a majority of 6,543 votes, defeating Perikatan Nasional candidate Azlisham Azahar, Malaysian United Democratic Alliance candidate R. Sangaran and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air candidate Sharuddin Md Salleh.
Polling day for the Johor state election is July 11.
