KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has restructured its leadership in Sarawak, naming Mahmud Epah as the new state party chairman.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh, in a statement today, said the decision was made at a meeting of PKR Sarawak division leaders with party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.
Mahmud, formerly the state party secretary, replaces Ahmad Nazib Johari, whom Fuziah said would continue to strengthen ties between the party’s national leadership and Sabah and Sarawak, in line with PKR’s focus on expanding its political network in both regions.
Fuziah also said the meeting had also agreed on several key measures to strengthen the party’s preparations for the upcoming 13th Sarawak State Election.
“The meeting emphasised that the main focus would be on election strategies and groundwork as part of comprehensive preparations.
“In line with this, the meeting also agreed to restructure the state leadership, with Mahmud Epah named as the new Sarawak State Leadership Council chairman,” she said.
