TNB Restores Power Within 77 Minutes After Kangkar Tebrau Substation Fire

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Electricity supply to all areas affected by a fire at the Kangkar Tebrau Main Intake Substation in Johor yesterday was fully restored within 77 minutes, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) said.

Two TNB technical personnel who were at the site sustained injuries and are receiving further treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Bahru.

Both are reported to be in stable condition.

In a statement today, TNB said the fire broke out at 6.03 pm, disrupting electricity supply in several areas around Johor Bahru, including Bandar Dato Onn, Taman Daya, Kempas, Bandar Ulu Tiram, Desa Tebrau and Johor Jaya.

“Following the incident, TNB mobilised its technical teams to restore electricity supply in stages,” it said.

TNB said the families of both injured personnel had been informed and were with them.

The cause of the fire remains under detailed investigation by TNB’s technical team in collaboration with the relevant authorities, including the Fire and Rescue Department.

“TNB will provide its full cooperation to ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out,” the statement read.

TNB apologised for the inconvenience caused by the disruption and thanked affected customers for their patience and cooperation throughout the restoration process.
