KOTA BHARU, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Kelantan is investigating a consumer complaint alleging that their vehicle suffered damage after filling up with RON95 petrol at a petrol station in Tanah Merah last week.

Kelantan KPDN Director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf said that samples of the fuel have been taken to be sent to the Chemistry Department to determine whether it was mixed with water.

He said the laboratory analysis results have yet to be obtained and is expected to be known soon.

"If the analysis results confirm that the petrol was mixed with water, KPDN will take further action to investigate the matter," he said during a press conference at the Kelantan KPDN headquarters here today.

Hanif Yusabra encouraged other consumers who experienced the same issue to come forward and file a complaint with KPDN so that appropriate action can be taken.

He added that consumers who suffered losses can also submit claims through the Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia (TTPM), subject to the tribunal's jurisdiction and the evidence presented. TTPM can hear consumer claims not exceeding RM50,000.

Meanwhile, Kelantan KPDN will continue monitoring fuel quality and examining related complaints to ensure consumer interests remain protected.
