KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Singapore are committed to strengthening cooperation in education to create more opportunities for students and teachers in both countries, said Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek.
In a Facebook post today, she said the matter was discussed during a meeting with her Singaporean counterpart, Desmond Lee.
Fadhlina said the discussion covered efforts to enhance students’ English language proficiency through the Malaysia-Singapore English Volunteers Programme (MSEVP).
“We also discussed an exchange programme for Malay language teachers to facilitate the sharing of experiences and teaching methodologies.
“The collaboration also covers the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, including sharing Malaysia’s experience in implementing the Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia (DELIMa) digital learning platform,” she said.
Fadhlina said both sides also planned to expand school networking programmes to give students more opportunities to appreciate cultural diversity and learn alongside their peers from the neighbouring country.
She said both countries had unique strengths in education from which they could learn from each other.
“Most importantly, this collaboration must benefit both teachers and students,” she said.
