KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Pepper Labs Sdn Bhd, which has supported the artificial intelligence (AI) learning journey of more than 400,000 learners across Malaysia, is expanding into AI solutions, building on its work in talent development and community empowerment.

The company said in a statement today that the expansion would focus on agentic AI solutions for public-sector transformation and bespoke sovereign AI platforms tailored to the data, workflows, language and governance requirements of Malaysian organisations.

The move would combine AI talent development with technology implementation to support organisations from identifying high-value use cases and preparing employees to developing, deploying and driving the adoption of production-ready AI solutions.

Its managing director Thanaselan Rajendran said Malaysia needed local capabilities to design, build, govern and scale AI solutions that address its institutional and economic needs.

“Malaysia does not only need more users of artificial intelligence. We must also develop the local capability to design, build, govern and scale AI solutions that respond to our own institutional and economic needs,” he said in the statement.

He said the expansion reflected Pepper Labs’ commitment to building technology in Malaysia, by Malaysians.

“We are developing practical AI systems that understand local workflows, operate within appropriate data-residency requirements and create measurable value for public officers, businesses and communities.”

Pepper Labs said its learner reach was achieved through initiatives including AI Ready Malaysia, AI for My Future Malaysia, Google Gemilang and programmes delivered through the nationwide NADI network under Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), including collaborations with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Building on that reach, the company is connecting inclusive AI talent pipelines with practical technology adoption across communities, micro, small and medium enterprises and the public sector.

Its collaborations with Microsoft, AWS and Google strengthen its access to AI technologies, cloud infrastructure, technical expertise and industry-recognised learning content, it said.

The company said its progression from learning to implementation was reflected in its work developing agentic AI solutions for ministries, government agencies and statutory bodies.
