TEHRAN, Oct 14 (Bernama-IRNA) -- A container ship carrying more than 2,500 containers has sunk in waters south of the Strait of Hormuz after hitting a naval mine and catching fire, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported, citing the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy.
The ship struck a naval mine, triggering an explosion and a severe fire, the IRGC statement said.
It sank on Wednesday morning after the blaze intensified.
