BANGI, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The 'Sumud Protocol' framework is expected to rally Malaysians and the international community to join forces in strengthening the Palestinian liberation movement, says Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby.

He said the framework was designed to translate solidarity with Palestine into coordinated action through the participation of various sectors, including the media, university students and politicians across party lines.

"What took place today is the culmination of a new arrangement where 250 delegates from 43 countries gathered in Kuala Lumpur, and we hosted them to see how this momentum can be placed within a framework known as the 'Sumud Protocol'.

"Under this framework, media practitioners champion the cause through the media, students are empowered through their strengths, and politicians can unite across party lines," he told reporters after attending the Sumud Nusantara Dinner held in conjunction with the 2026 Global Sumud Congress here today.

Also present were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) CEO Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the patron of the Sumud Nusantara Movement, officiated the event before launching the 'Sumud Protocol' framework.

"This is an important milestone because we received the mandate from the Prime Minister to ensure Malaysia stands as a steadfast pillar through thick and thin for the Palestinian liberation movement," Sani Araby said.

He noted that the launch of the framework is a continuation of the Sumud Nusantara movement and the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) to raise international awareness of the plight of the Palestinian people.

"Insya-Allah, this is a national agenda that should be embraced and supported by all ministries, Members of Parliament and every segment of society," he said.

The 'Sumud Protocol' serves as a collective roadmap to coordinate global efforts towards Palestinian liberation through sustained collective action across advocacy, political, humanitarian and international solidarity platforms.

The protocol outlines five main action tracks: motion pictures, parliamentary action, civil society and youth movements, flotillas to Gaza, and the convening of the Global Sumud Congress to unify efforts.

The congress also endorsed the Global Sumud Movement Foundation Resolution, establishing five strategic pillars: accountability and justice; freedom and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people; humanitarian solidarity and community resilience; public awareness, education and advocacy; as well as global solidarity and strategic cooperation.
