KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) --  Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has conveyed Malaysia’s condemnation of the attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia to his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, amid the escalating crisis in West Asia.

The Foreign Ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, said the two ministers discussed key issues related to the crisis in West Asia, including the situation in Saudi Arabia, during a telephone conversation on Monday (Oct 12).

“Foreign Minister condemned in the strongest terms the attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia,” said Wisma Putra in a post on X on Tuesday.

The ministry said Mohamad reaffirmed Malaysia’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and "conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathies over the loss of lives and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

“He also urged all parties to pursue a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy, towards restoring lasting peace, security and stability in the region,” the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said Mohamad had expressed Malaysia's support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability, and to protect its citizens and residents.

The ministry said the two ministers also reviewed bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.

In a statement on Sunday, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said 12 people were killed and 309 injured in Saturday’s attack on the King Khalid International Airport.

Riyadh has faced repeated Houthi attacks in recent days, with strikes on King Khalid International Airport over two days forcing the temporary suspension of operations.
