LONDON, Oct 13 (Bernama-PA Media/dpa) -- The chief executive of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee will step down from the role, reported PA Media/dpa.
Cindy Hook announced on Tuesday that she will resign at the end of her four-year contract, saying it was the right time to pass the baton to a new leader to ensure a smooth transition as preparations for the Australian games move into the next phase of operations.
"During the past four years, I have achieved everything we had hoped for and had many amazing experiences along the way," Hook said in a written statement.
"I know Brisbane 2032 will deliver a Games that all Australians will be proud of, and I have every confidence the team will continue what we have started with a new leader."
The board expects to make an announcement on Hook's replacement in the coming months.
Located in north-east Australia, Brisbane will become the third Australian city to host a Summer Olympics after Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000.
