KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s (TNB) RM15 billion investment in the national grid announced in Budget 2027 today addresses a critical priority and need for the infrastructure to support reliable power and industrial expansion, said Solarvest Holdings Bhd.
Solarvest chief executive officer Datuk Davis Chong Chun Shiong said the company would work with TNB to advance smart grids, digital energy management and utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) to meet rising corporate demand under the accelerated Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).
“Solarvest is dedicated to support the clean energy adoption in these critical economic hubs, from the semiconductor ecosystems in Penang and Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) in Kedah, to the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley in Perak, and the artificial intelligence (AI)-driven data-centre development in Selangor and Johor.
“By integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) smart grid solutions, we can effectively mitigate grid congestion, maximise intermittent solar integration, and ensure high-reliability power delivery for mission-critical industries,” he said in a statement.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, said during Budget 2027’s reading that TNB will invest RM15 billion to strengthen the national grid to meet the country’s growing electricity demand.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) president and chief executive officer Mohd Yazid Ja’afar said Budget 2027 would help Malaysian oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) companies strengthen sustainability, develop skills in new energy sectors and expand into global markets.
“The initiatives announced in Budget 2027 open practical doors for future-ready OGSE companies. MPRC will work with the industry to help them walk through those doors.
“Through the OGSE Blueprint and its programmes, MPRC will continue to help Malaysian OGSE companies turn these enabling measures into tangible growth, at home and abroad, as the industry builds a more competitive, resilient and sustainable future,” he said in a separate statement.
