Budget 2027: Guardian Welcomes Higher Tax Relief For Healthcare Affordability
Pengarah Urusan Guardian Malaysia Priscilla Wu

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Guardian Malaysia has welcomed measures in Budget 2027 aimed at improving healthcare affordability, particularly the increase in the individual tax relief limit from RM9,000 to RM12,000 for the first time since 2010.

Guardian Malaysia Managing Director Priscilla Wu said the measures, alongside tax cuts that could put up to RM1,600 back into household budgets, recognised healthcare affordability as an essential part of the cost-of-living conversation.

“When household budgets are tight, families may delay smaller health needs to manage immediate living expenses. For many Malaysian families, health expenditure begins at home, with everyday health essentials, responsible self-care, and illness prevention.

“Measures such as expanding tax relief to cover post-natal care services and total parental care expenses help make these investments in family health more affordable,” she said in a statement, today.

She said Guardian, as a trusted wellness advisor serving communities across Malaysia, believes that making everyday healthcare more accessible and affordable supported healthier families while complementing the government's broader efforts to build a more sustainable healthcare system.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the increase in the individual tax relief limit from RM9,000 to RM12,000, alongside the expansion of tax relief to cover post-natal care services and total parental care expenses, when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
