KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- National men's doubles player Tee Kai Wun aims to break back into the world's top 10 with Man Wei Chong, by the end of the season as they reunite for the Denmark Open, taking place from Oct 13 to 18 at Jyske Bank Arena.
This target follows the pair's current standing at world number 12, a result of their absence from several previous tournament series.
“We hope to break into the top 10 or top eight, though it takes time because we missed many tournaments and now there are perhaps only four or five tournaments left. So, we will try our best to maintain our ranking around that level,” Kai Wun said when met by reporters at the Badminton Academy Malaysia in Bukit Kiara today.
Based on the Denmark Open first-round draw, Kai Wun and Wei Chong are scheduled to open their campaign against the host nation's pair, Christian Faust Kjaer and Rasmus Kjaer.
However, regarding specific targets at the Super 750-level tournament, Kai Wun preferred not to place excessive pressure on himself, focusing instead on the match itself.
He explained that the current priority is to deliver a high-quality performance on the court and advance as far as possible in the tournament.
“I’m not setting high expectations; I just want to focus on my own performance, and if we can go far, that would be even better,” he said.
For the record, Kai Wun’s last outing saw him paired with Aaron Chia at the recent Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, where their campaign ended in the Round of 16.
