KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Awantec Systems Sdn Bhd (Awantec) won the Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education Award at the 2026 Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) Digital AI Awards held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
It said in a statement today that the award recognises Awantec's nationwide initiative, ‘Accelerating AI Literacy in Malaysian Higher Education’, delivered alongside the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).
“The initiative, deployed across 20 public universities, equips students and faculties with modern AI tools. Through Pendidik AI (Google AI Pro), educators can enhance teaching, research and academic workflows, while Siswa AI (Gemini Notebook Enterprise) equips students with practical skills in research, information synthesis and critical thinking,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Awantec group chief executive officer Azizah Ali said the recognition validates the company’s commitment to building an AI-ready Malaysia.
"Our focus goes beyond providing technology. Together with MOHE, we are building the knowledge, confidence and capabilities needed to use AI responsibly, preparing Malaysia’s higher education ecosystem for an AI-driven world,” she said.
Awantec said the Siswa AI programme is supported by webinars, activation roadshows, and interactive pop-up booths held across campuses, providing students with hands-on guidance on the use of AI.
With over two decades of experience in digital transformation, Awantec is Malaysia’s sole Google Cloud Managed Service Provider (MSP) under the Cloud Framework Agreement, combining capabilities with talent development to support digital transformation and drive national impact.
