KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) received the Mass Media Broadcasting Award today at the 2026 Malaysia Industry Awards (MINDA).

Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin received the award, which was presented by Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Sim Tze Tzin.

Also present were Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam and Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Steven Sim.

The award is a recognition under the Industry Outstanding Awards category, honoring achievements in mass media broadcasting as well as Bernama's contribution as the national news agency in delivering information to the public.

Earlier, Sim said in his speech that the recognition received by entrepreneurs at the event, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), proves that the sector is capable of achieving success despite facing challenging global economic conditions.

He said that Malaysia, as a nation practicing an open economy, is also affected by various international crises, including economic, trade, and geopolitical uncertainties.

"It is indeed challenging, but we cannot deny that there are successes. And tonight is proof that Malaysia's MSMEs can succeed despite a very challenging global environment," he said in his speech at the event here today.

Sim also congratulated the Federation of Malaysian Business Associations (FMBA) for its efforts in uplifting and celebrating the success of entrepreneurs, as well as organising engagement and dialogue sessions and submitting proposals to the government, particularly through the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).

He noted that all proposals submitted, including those from FMBA, have been given due consideration and forwarded to the Ministry of Finance ahead of the tabling of the 2027 Budget.

Meanwhile, Nur-ul Afida said this recognition proves that the contributions, news content, and information delivered through TV and radio platforms have received due attention and acknowledgment from the organisers.

She said this success also reflects the hard work of the team and the entire Bernama Editorial Department in producing quality content for the public.

"I would like to congratulate the Bernama TV and Bernama Radio teams, as well as the entire Bernama Editorial Department, because the news and information channelled have gained due attention and recognition. This is something we should celebrate.

"This recognition should serve as a morale boost for all of us at Bernama to continue producing better work and achieving excellence in every task carried out," she said.

MINDA 2026, organised by the FMBA, serves as an annual platform to recognise and celebrate the achievements of companies, entrepreneurs, and organisations that have recorded outstanding performance across various sectors. It acts as a benchmark of excellence by honoring recipients who demonstrate outstanding performance, innovation, and contributions to the country's economic growth.

A total of 36 recipients from various categories covering key sectors such as finance, retail, healthcare, and education received recognition at tonight's event, including Datuk Irwan Shah Abdullah, better known as DJ Dave, who received the Evergreen Musical Legend Award.
