NIBONG TEBAL, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The Region One Marine Police Force (PPM) arrested six Myanmar men during two inspections at fish cages in the Sungai Udang waters here today.
In a statement, Region One PPM said acting on information and intelligence, its Marine Intelligence Unit, with the assistance of a patrol boat, conducted inspections before arresting the six illegal immigrants.
“The first inspection at 4 am led to the arrest of three men aged between 19 and 30, all of whom did not have valid travel documents, while the second raid at about 5 am resulted in the arrest of three more men aged between 27 and 48.
“One of them had an expired passport, while the other two did not have valid travel documents. A Myanmar passport was also seized during the inspection,” it said.
All six suspects were subsequently handed over to the investigating officer at Seberang Perai Selatan district police headquarters (IPD) for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
