Deputy MB Calls For Swift Action On Kelantan Stray Dog Issue

KOTA BHARU, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The issue of stray dogs in Kelantan needs to be addressed immediately to safeguard residents, particularly children and school students, from further attacks, said Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan.

He said the authorities must look into the matter and take appropriate action in accordance with the law, as human safety and lives must be prioritised.

“The authorities need to look into this matter, as human lives, particularly those of children, are a priority. Therefore, appropriate action should be taken in accordance with the law to ensure the safety of people, especially children and school students,” he told reporters after the Exco meeting at Kompleks Kota Darulnaim here today.

Last Thursday, an eight-year-old boy was seriously injured after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs at Pantai Kuala Kemasin in Bachok.

Meanwhile, he said the Kelantan government condemned any act of desecrating places of worship following the vandalism of Masjid Al-Aziz Al-Hadi in Kota SPP Warisan, Kampung Berangan, Tumpat, recently.

It was reported that the mosque’s glass door had been smashed and a foul-smelling, greenish-brown liquid, believed to be faeces, was poured onto the carpet in the prayer hall.

He said such an act was not only rude and irresponsible but should never occur at any place of worship.

Police on Monday said that they were identifying a man believed to be linked to the incident.

In another development, Mohamed Fadzli said he hoped several major projects involving the people’s interests would be given priority in Budget 2027, to be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this Friday, particularly projects aimed at addressing current issues, including flood mitigation.

He said the state government also hoped that its application for the extension of the East Coast Expressway (LPT) from Gemuruh to Kelantan would be approved to provide the people with an alternative route to Kuala Lumpur apart from the Gua Musang route.
